Reading this post of yours reminds me deeply of my friend Jerry, whom you are aware of. He often strongly insinuated what you are talking about in this post in our long talks about Plato. I don’t think he originally thought this, but as he got older seemed to go in this direction in our discussions. He was also the first person of two I’ve ever met who actually put into practice Plato’s teachings and lived them instead of just talked about them abstractly. He was also the only person I’ve ever met that I’d call a living Saint.
