Converted to Christianity, or perhaps rather adapted to Christianity? I know it sounds like I'm "wrangling about words", but the reason I suggest the distinction is that there are, as I'm sure you're aware, polytheists who currently experience Brigid as a goddess. So unless, like JMG has suggested with regard to Jesus, there are multiple Brigids, it makes more sense to me that the being in question sees paganism waning and Christianity waxing and says, "Okay, I suppose I can be a saint If folks would rather see me that way." Then later, when polytheism resurges, says "Alright then, back to goddess for the goddess folks. My, but there sure a lot of different people who love me!"
This might sound to you like I'm saying exactly what you're saying in different words, and my intention isn't to quibble for its own sake, but I guess the word "converted" suggests to me the idea of, "Oh my, here all this time I thought I was a goddess, when actually YHWH is the only God and Jesus is the second person in the Trinity! I guess I should become a Christian and start calling myself a saint instead!"
I'm sure you're not a fundamentalist, and yes, it's probably true I have knee-jerk reactions to perceptions of fundamentalism. So hopefully you're not annoyed that my knee jerked here in your post!
