Willows clearly have magical properties but I'm unable to find many details right now. In another forum, JMG mentioned that they should not be used for tree-working, as their energy is too strongly Lunar for most people to handle. (I.e., it produces lunacy.) I've found references to their use in magic going back a long way, including in Persia and the far East, but no details. As simple medicine, of course, they've been used since Hippocrates's time at least.
