I have always taken the first Beatitude as, “Blessed are the poor, in spirit…” but there is no comma. And in my experience in the Catholic Church the priest always explained it that way as well. But maybe I misunderstood.
This is such a refreshing perspective and gives me so much to think about. Thank you
