One of the things I was planning on discussing in terms of magical defense is that praying for your enemies, and the practice of going out and blessing every person you encounter, are both, in my experience, far more effective than explicitly protective workings. And protective workings themselves work far better if you approach them as an act of healing and blessing, rather than fighting or conflict. Dragon-slaying is just a metaphor; any protective working is really more like the Demiurgus bringing order to Chaos.
