Updates

Hi Everyone,

I'm sorry for the light posting over the last week-- We had a virus blow into the house with last Friday's snowstorm. I assumed it was a flu, but test results today show that it's actually Covid! As of right now, the worst seems to be past-- the symptoms so far have been those of an ordinary flu or cold, but weirder. In any case, one of the lingering effects is a kind of fatigue and difficulty with concentration that's making writing something of a challenge. I'll have something new up here in a couple of days-- and in the meantime, if any of my readers happen to have a good relationship with St Raphael the Archangel, I'd be very grateful if you would put in a good word!

May you have a swift and uneventful recovery!

We had something blow through our house over Christmas that started with two days of raging sore throat that felt like the last time I got strep, and then turned into a couple days of impressive sinus drainage, and then a lingering touch of bronchitis. We're pretty much over it now-- I'm still taking cetirizine to keep it from turning into bronchitis (which is like my personal kryptonite). Nobody tested, so... no idea what it was. But everybody around here seems to have either been sick with it over Christmas, or is sick with it now. We are kind of hoping it was the latest coof iteration, so we can just check that off the "to do" list...

I'm curious to hear about it. I didn't notice anything particularly different about this crud, vs. previous generic winter crud. Made me feel dull and inert for about two weeks... but for me that's pretty typical for any acute illness/recovery. I read that as "my body is saying get some rest"... so I don't try to get out and clean the whole house or run errands or start projects just because overt symptoms are over.

That's fascinating-- like the virus is giving you a glimpse of... death? Non-material reality? I can see where a whole lot of people would be very resistant to that experience! I wonder if there's any correlation between severity of illness and resistance to the more ...astral? aspects.

Hoping you feel better soon! For what it's worth, I offered a quick prayer on your behalf to St Raphael, St Luke, and Saint Panteleimon the unmercenary healer.

Wishing you a speedy recovery, and may Raphael cover you and yours with his wings.
